Our penultimate car caused a bit of a stir at the time with its livery. Read more about its history from John…
If you’ve seen the recent Rush film about Niki Lauda and James Hunt you will know which era this livery is from. The illustration features the livery from the original 312T which then went through four more iterations between 1975 and 1980, racking up four constructors championships and three drivers championships. John will tell us a bit more about this F1 legend…
Next up in the series of retro F1 posts it’s the turn of the Copersucar F5A…
“The Fittipaldi F5A has the rare distinction of being raced by only one driver; Emerson Fittipaldi. In a move that shocked the Motor Racing world at the time, Emerson left the McLaren team with which he had experienced so much success. The title sponsor of the car was the Copersucar company and this is what the all-Brazilian team came to be known as.
A couple of months ago we released some designs featuring retro formula one liveries on a 2013 car. The images received a lot of comments in forums and we received some great feedback, as well as the images sparking some rumours that McLaren would be using the old red/white colour scheme in 2015 when Honda return. Oops!
Following on from those eight original cars we have six new ones to release here over the coming weeks. Racing driver and walking Formula One fact book John Langridge will provide us with a few words about each car, explaining why it was one of the greats and elaborating on some of the facts in our infographic.
Anyway, without any further babbling, here is our opener, 1984′s Toleman TG184… over to John to explain more. Enjoy!

These new cards are printed using Moo’s ‘Luxe’ option which means 600gsm made up of four sheets of Mohawk Superfine paper bonded together. The option to have the middle two layers as a colour means we can get add a bit of colour to the cards with a nice streak of blue running round the edge too.
